THIS SECTION IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION...PARDON THE MESS

Bill & Amanda Pagaran  - President and "Committed to Life" Executive Director

Bill Pagaran - a native Alaskan (Tlingit) - was born in Seattle, Washington and spent part of his childhood there and the rest in Alaska. After a very difficult childhood filled with rejection and disappointment, he found some success by focusing his attention on music rather than personal problems. In 1988, Bill graduated from Wasilla High School with many awards and accomplishments including high honors in state-wide competitions and festivals in Alaska, as well as from the National Youth Orchestra and the Anchorage Symphony. Bill even received a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Oregon to study with the world-renown percussionist Charles Dowd.
Though things were going well for Bill, he knew that there was more to life than just music; so he returned to Alaska to find his heart and his calling. In 1991, he radically made a decision for Christ, was baptized, and later that year was married to his wife, Amanda.
In 1996, Bill & Amanda moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Bill pursued a career in Christian music. Again, even though he had some success there, Bill felt that there was something more destined for him. So he and Amanda returned to Alaska with a mandate and vision to go out and bring hope and healing to the youth in Alaska.
Bill became the director of Carry The Cure, Inc.'s "Committed to Life" program in 1999. Bill was able to use his personal experience, talent, and love for people to communicate a message of hope, faith, and love to teens. Since then, he has had opportunity to speak at leadership conferences (Alaska Assoc. of Student Government, and Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference), the Community Based Suicide Prevention Program in Alaska, as well as other youth events. Bill lives the heartbeat of the CTC mission: to set "youth on a path to pursue their destiny and commit to life".

Amanda Pagaran was born and raised in Alaska with a love for the state and its peoples. She grew up in a loving, Christian home; coming to know the Lord at an early age. At age four, she started seriously pursuing their career in teaching. While attending East High School in Anchorage, she was very involved with choir, her church youth group, and working with youth through church activities and other volunteer organizations.
Amanda graduated with a degree in education (English and social studies) from Pacific Lutheran University in 1982. That same year, she moved back to Alaska and began teaching at Palmer Junior High School in the Mat-Su Valley.
Amanda's other loves, besides her family and teaching youth, are music and drama. She was involved in community theater, and was the vocalist for the After-Six Orchestra for many years. It was there she fell in love with the drummer of the orchestra, Bill Pagaran, and married him in 1991. They were blessed with two children, Aria in 1995, and Reign in 2000.
Though only part-time, so she can spend time with her family, Amanda continues to teach in the Mat-Su Valley. She also helps CTC with their dramatic presentations, and edits/contributes to their publications.
