My name is William M. Pagaran. I am a Tlingit Indian and a member of the Central Council and the 13th Region. I am 38 years old, married with two children. I love my family, and my desire is that it can be an example for others to follow. I have lived in Alaska for about 30 years, and I love Alaska and the people in it because of it rich cultural and environmental diversity. I believe in raising up a generation that uses their unique gifts and abilities to enrich the lives of those around them. I am also living proof that it is possible to successfully overcome a difficult childhood.

I have a diverse employment background. I taught music in the Mat-Su Borough School District for two years. I've been a clinician, outreach specialist and counselor. My most recent employment experience has been with a non-profit organization called Carry the Cure, Inc. Carry the Cure, Inc. has given me the opportunity to work with thousands of teens throughout the state of Alaska. One of Carry the Cure's missions is to convince the youth of Alaska to be committed to life. We give motivational messages to the youth and call them to be committed to life, and to abstain from sexual impurity, drugs and alcohol.

I believe that there is a hope and a future for the youth people of Alaska. I believe that adults and teachers need to invest in the lives of the youth by being a good role model. I believe that means that we should be committed to life, purity and excellence. We need to unconditionally love, accept and believe in every youth person we meet.
